Epoxy-Functionalized POSS and Glass Fiber for Improving Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resins
نویسندگان
چکیده
To improve the thermal and mechanical properties of epoxy resins, epoxy-functionalized POSS (E-POSS) glass fiber (GF) were used to reinforce resin (E51) composites. The tensile, thermo-mechanical, fractured, tests carried out characterize these hybrid materials. results show that E-POSS GF could significantly resins due high crosslink density matrix synergistic interaction between resin, E-POSS, GF. Compared with pure E51 tensile strength + (10%) (16%) sample increased by 257.6%, decomposition temperature (Td5%) 32 °C 378 °C.

Environmental effects on mechanical properties of glass/epoxy and fiber metal laminates, Part II: Isothermal aging
The aim of this study is to investigate effects of isothermal aging on mechanical properties of fiber metal laminates (FMLs) and glass/epoxy composites. For this purpose, both materials were fabricated using the wet lay-up manufacturing technique under vacuum pressure. Both the glass/epoxy composites and the FML specimens were then subjected to isothermal aging (130°C, dried air) for up to 5 we...
متن کاملEnvironmental Effects on Mechanical Properties of Glass/Epoxy and Fiber Metal Laminates, Part I: Hygrothermal Aging
In this article, the effect of hygrothermal aging on mechanical properties of fiber metal laminates (FMLs) and E-glass/epoxy (GE) composites is investigated. First, FML and GE specimens were built using wet lay-up technique under vacuum pressure. Hygrothermal aging simulation was then carried out on both specimen types in distilled water at a constant temperature of 90 °C for 5 weeks. The resul...
متن کاملMoisture Diffusion Properties of Fabric Composite (Glass Fiber/Epoxy Resin)
In this study, the effect of hygrothermal conditioning on the moisture diffusion properties of the fabric composite (glass fiber/epoxy resin) was investigated. The water uptake of the specimens conditioned in humid environment at different relative humidities (0, 60 and 96 % r.h) at constant temperature (60°C) was evaluated by weight gain measurements. The moisture diffusion properties of the f...
متن کاملCreep Behavior of Basalt and Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composites
The creep behavior of basalt fiber reinforced epoxy (BFRE) and glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE) composites was studied through tensile testing at high temperature. To study the effect of reinforcing epoxy, the micro glass powder (MGP) was added at various volume percentage into the epoxy resin in BFRE composites. The initial strain for all the specimens were evaluated and compared with each ...
متن کاملEffects of Chemical Structure Changes on Thermal, Mechanical, and Crystalline Properties of Rigid Rod Epoxy Resins
Effects of chemical structure changes on the thermal, mechanical, and crystalline properties of rigid rod epoxy resins have been studied for azomethine epoxy, biphenol epoxy, and tetramethyl biphenol epoxy. Rigid rod epoxies have exhibited better properties than those of the flexible bisphenol A epoxy. The chemical structures of both rigid rod epoxy and curing agent control the properties of cu...
